Rob Andersen is a PhD student in the Education Program at Northeastern University. He graduated from Holy Cross College in 2010 with a BA in chemistry and worked as a chemist for a year before switching gears to focus on teaching. He has served as a chemistry teacher with the Boston Public Schools for 5 years now, during which time he has further developed a passion for education. His other passions include skiing in the winter, and spending time at the beach any time of year.

Jessica earned her M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Massachusetts in Boston and her Bachelor of Science in English Education from Boston University. She is certified teacher in secondary English for grades 6-12. She has worked with students of all ages from elementary grades through high school in both classroom and one-on-one tutoring settings for over 10 years. Her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction gives her particular insight into the process of developing curriculum for the individualized instruction of her students. Additionally, she has a great deal of experience in preparing students for the all sections of SAT, ACT, SSAT, and ISEE exams. Even though she studied English, she was a math “geek” in high school and loves to help students struggling in math. Jessica also grew up in a bilingual English/ Spanish household and is able to support students in their Spanish studies. Helping and teaching students is a passion, and a role she takes seriously. She believes that all students can achieve their full potential through supportive instruction.

Nathan earned a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Statistics from Cornell University, with minors in Creative Writing and Earth Science. He is passionate about academics, and he loves to help others gain confidence in their studies. While at Cornell, Nathan worked as a teaching assistant, section leader, and tutor for college level math and science classes. Privately, he has worked with individual middle school, high school, and college level students on a variety of subjects. Back when he was in high school, Nathan realized that he had a weird affinity for standardized tests; he often helped his friends prepare for them. Now, he is an experienced instructor for AP, ACT, SAT, and SAT Subject Tests. As a tutor, Nathan enjoys working with students to learn specific course material, alongside general study habits. He believes that supportive, individualized instruction can help any student achieve their full academic potential.

Anna Harea holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (2009) as well as a BS in Physics (2007) from Ivanovo State University Russia. Anna moved to Boston 6 years ago to teach lower elementary students (ages 6-9) at a Montessori school, and serve as a teacher’s assistant for students with special needs. She had received a Montessori teacher certification at the Center of Montessori Education in New York, while also teaching in the classroom and tutoring individually students in elementary grades through high school. Anna enjoys working with students of all ages and she is very passionate about teaching. She has great experience in preparing students for all sections of MCAS, SAT, ACT, SSAT, and IESS exams and also tutors algebra, geometry, physics and Russian language. Anna is an encouraging educator who is able to support students with their work, as well as their organizational and study habits. She believes that every child can achieve his/her full potential through supportive instruction.

George Li is a recent graduate of Boston University’s College of Arts and Sciences where he earned a BA in Linguistics while also pursuing a non-degree pre-med track. He is currently taking additional pre-med courses in math and sciences as he prepares for graduate school. George’s teaching experience includes serving as a private tutor for Chinese language students at BU, as well as a working as a teaching assistant in the Middlebury Monterey Language Academy. He as worked one on one with many students on subjects ranging from math (up through calculus), macro/microeconomics, Mandarin Chinese, chemistry, biology, physics, ESL, writing composition, and SAT/ ACT prep.

Angele earned her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies and her certificate in Teaching English to Foreign Language Speakers from the University of Central Florida. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in International Relations and Global Studies from Northeastern University. She has worked with students of all ages from elementary grades through adults in both classroom and one-on-one tutoring settings for over 5 years. She has two years of experience with classroom support and academic intervention for middle and high school students through the nonprofit education organization City Year and has taught English grammar, reading (including TOEFL test prep), writing and speech to TEFL/ESOL adult students in a formal language school environment. She also has considerable experience in teaching music and performance to students of all ages. Outside of her wealth of experience in instruction, Angele has a career background in journalism and communications; she is a self-professed “word nerd” and loves learning so much that she has vowed to always dedicate a portion of her life to spreading that appreciation for learning to others. She believes that with the right individualized support and attention, every student has the ability to succeed.

Leigh Meunier holds a BA in English and is a certified secondary teacher. She has taught in Brookline Public Schools and is currently a teacher of science and mathematics at Boston Public’s Another Course to College. She has provided academic support to students in all subject areas including: biology, chemistry, physics, geometry, calculus, English, writing, history, and French. She has also supported many students in their college preparatory process including SAT/ ACT prep and college applications and essays. She has extensive experience working with students with various learning differences, as well as English Language Learners. For the past two summers she has taught the English portion of the ESL summer camp at International School of Boston. She believes in the importance of supporting students’ self-confidence and academic engagement. She seeks to foster these traits when working with students in one-on-one and small group settings.

Maya is currently pursuing her Master’s in Social Work at Boston College. Originally from the Boston area, Maya received her B.A. in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies at Bard College in New York. She has experience teaching and tutoring children of a wide variety of ages and backgrounds. She also has experience developing curricula and managing educational programs, which helps her to be a creative tutor and to find the best approach with each student. She is passionate about language-learning and particularly enjoys tutoring Spanish, Arabic, English and Writing.
