Susan Alves taught high school and college literature and writing for 25 years. She enjoys tutoring students because it allows her to put skills that she honed in teaching to good use in a one-on-one and/or small group setting. Among the subjects in which Susan is proficient are: literature, writing, the college essay and college application, as well as the SAT/ACT, SSAT/ISEE, GRE, Mass Teachers Exams. She is adept at tutoring in history, humanities and in writing for the sciences. She is comfortable working with students on IEPs and with executive function and organizational challenges. Susan has experience working with business professionals on writing tasks and preparing for presentations. As well, she skilled in assisting law students with the conventions of legal writing. Andy Daitsman holds a Ph.D. in Latin American history from the University of Wisconsin and a Masters from Columbia University. He has traveled to almost every country in Latin America, and lived in Chile and Mexico. He speaks Spanish with near-native proficiency and since 2007 has been a high school teacher of Spanish. He also has extensive experience scoring the writing portion of the SAT exam. Andy tutors Spanish, history, writing, general studies, and SAT/ACT prep. Andy connects extremely well with high school students, with a caring style that helps them feel at ease with the learning process.

Leigh Meunier holds a BA in English and is a certified secondary teacher. She has taught in Brookline Public Schools and is currently a teacher of science and mathematics at Boston Public’s Another Course to College. She has provided academic support to students in all subject areas including: biology, chemistry, physics, geometry, calculus, English, writing, history, and French. She has also supported many students in their college preparatory process including SAT/ ACT prep and college applications and essays. She has extensive experience working with students with various learning differences, as well as English Language Learners. For the past two summers she has taught the English portion of the ESL summer camp at International School of Boston. She believes in the importance of supporting students’ self-confidence and academic engagement. She seeks to foster these traits when working with students in one-on-one and small group settings.

Maya is currently pursuing her Master’s in Social Work at Boston College. Originally from the Boston area, Maya received her B.A. in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies at Bard College in New York. She has experience teaching and tutoring children of a wide variety of ages and backgrounds. She also has experience developing curricula and managing educational programs, which helps her to be a creative tutor and to find the best approach with each student. She is passionate about language-learning and particularly enjoys tutoring Spanish, Arabic, English and Writing.
